Dr. Mahesh Chandra Pal is an academic and researcher specializing in Medical Anthropology and Ethnomedicine, with a focus on indigenous health systems and community-based knowledge traditions. He holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Lucknow and is UGC-NET qualified. He is also a recipient of the prestigious ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship. He has significant research experience, having worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the Anthropological Survey of India. He has also served as a Subject Expert in Anthropology at the University of Lucknow, contributing to teaching and academic development. Dr. Pal’s fieldwork spans across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, where he has worked extensively with Nomadic, Semi-Nomadic communities, Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), and other tribal populations. His research explores the intersections of culture, health practices, and traditional healing systems among marginalized groups. He has published over 15 research papers in reputed national and international journals and has contributed two book chapters. His academic work is complemented by practical experience in museum anthropology, including ethnographic artifact collection and work with Zonal Anthropological Museums. Dr. Pal is committed to advancing anthropological knowledge through research, teaching, and applied engagement, with a particular emphasis on culturally grounded approaches to health and society.
