Established in 1978, the department of English has grown into a dynamic centre of academic excellence and creative engagement, offering a wide range of programs catering to diverse academic and professional aspirations. We also offer 5 programs, i.e. a 3 year and 4 year UG Program (BA - English), 1 year and 2 year PG Program (MA - English), PhD in English Literature, Certificate Program in French and Diploma in Creative Writing and Content Creation. We also provide a vibrant co-curricular environment which encourages reading performance, creative expression and intellectual dialogue. We have three clubs for students, The Book Club, The Page Turner's Society, The Theatre Society, Proscenium and The Literary Club, Ingenium. Committed to fostering critical thinking, effective communication and literary sensibility the department blends classical scholarship with contemporary approaches. Dr. Binu Singh is an Assistant Professor of English at National P.G. College, Lucknow, where she has been serving since July 2020. She holds a Ph.D. in English from Dr. R.M.L. Avadh University, Ayodhya, with her doctoral research focusing on Social and Political Concerns in the Novels of Manohar Malgonkar. With over a decade of teaching experience across higher and secondary education, Dr. Singh has previously worked as an Assistant Lecturer and Assistant Teacher at reputed institutions in Uttar Pradesh. Her academic interests include Indian English fiction, feminism, trauma studies, and socio-political themes in literature. Dr. Singh has authored a book on Manohar Malgonkar and has published research papers and book chapters in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes. She is an approved Ph.D. supervisor (from the 2024–25 session) and has been actively supervising M.A. dissertations since 2021. An active academic contributor, she has participated in and organized numerous seminars, conferences, faculty development programmes, and international language exchange initiatives. Dr. Singh is also involved in institutional responsibilities as a member of IQAC, Anti-Ragging Cell, and various academic committees. Her dedication to teaching, research, and academic administration reflects her commitment to higher education and literary scholarship.
Dr. Sugandha Srivastava is an Assistant Professor of English at National P.G. College, Lucknow, with over fifteen years of experience in teaching, research and academic administration. She holds a PhD in English Literature from Banasthali University and is a two-time gold medallist in MA and M.Phil respectively. A Fulbright Scholar, she served as a Foreign Language Teaching Assistant at Boston University, USA (2011–12). Her academic interests include children’s literature, gender studies, cultural identity and narratology. She has contributed chapters in various books, published research articles widely in reputed journals and presented papers at international conferences across India and abroad. Committed to academic excellence, she actively contributes to institutional development and fosters critical thinking and creativity among students.
Dr. Tulika Ghosh is an Assistant Professor of English at National P.G. College, Lucknow, with a Ph.D. and NET qualification. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses, specializing in Renaissance, Victorian, modern, and SAARC literature. Her pedagogy blends tradition with innovation to cultivate critical thinking and literary appreciation. Committed to academic excellence, she engages actively in teaching and research. She also holds a diploma in French, reflecting her interdisciplinary orientation.
Ms. Medha Tripathi is an experienced academician with over ten years of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in reputed institutions in Lucknow. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in English from the University of Lucknow and holds an M.Phil. in English with distinction. Her academic interests include cultural studies, mythology, diaspora literature, and film studies, reflected in her research presentations and publications. She has actively contributed to academic discourse through national and international seminars, conferences, and peer-reviewed journals. Alongside teaching, she has demonstrated leadership and organizational skills through academic administration and extracurricular engagements.
